Promotion for Hugh Robertson MP

In the Government reshuffle, Hugh Robertson has been promoted to Minister of State at the Department of Culture Media and Sport and made a member of the Privy Council.

He will have particular responsibility for sport, olympic legacy and tourism in a move that seeks to build on his central role in delivering the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Hugh said:
“Having first got involved in London 2012 as a Shadow Minister in 2004, it is fantastic to have the opportunity to see the project through by helping to shape the crucial legacy period. Tourism is a key driver of the UK economy and I am determined to help the sector capitalise on the events of this summer which have transformed our reputation internationally.”
